Clinical Research Assistant - Baystate Health

Summary:
Dr. Peacock-Chambers is looking to hire three Research Assistants to join her team and participate in federally funded cutting edge research to support parental mental health. She is hiring for two studies:
1) The EMPOWER trial (MMM-2021C2-23671) will test the value of remote blood pressure monitoring vs. blood pressure monitoring plus Community Health Worker (CHW) support. CHW's will be trained in both postpartum
care as well as postpartum mental health supports. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing the training form CHW's as well as supporting the CHW training team. This position is grant funded, hiring one full time research assistant for the next 2 years.
2) The "Mothering from the Inside Out" (MIO) trial (R01DA058125) will test the implementation and effectiveness of MIO when delivered by substance use treatment counselors in Springfield, Holyoke, and Worcester. This position will be responsible for recruitment of study subjects (women in recovery with children age 0-5 years) and data collection. This position is grant funded, hiring two full time research assistant for the next 4+ years.
Job Responsibilities:
1) Assists with moderately complex study tasks in accordance with protocol guidelines.
2) Performs Level I responsibilities with a higher level of problem resolution, analytical ability and self-direction.
3) May have other responsibilities including maintenance of inventory/ordering of study supplies, scheduling of study meetings, budget tracking, etc.
4) Contributes to preparation, submission, and maintenance of regulatory documents.
5) Performs actual study tasks as directed.
6) Accurately compiles information and data.
7) May assist with sponsor/CRO visits.
8) Adheres to protocol, IRB, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
9) Under the direction of the study coordinator or principal investigator, assist in enrolling patients in research studies. Contact patients as required after initial contact to obtain additional information.
10) Order and maintain a log of stipend checks and/or gift certificates to be distributed to study participants.
Required Work Experience:
1) Bachelors, in basic sciences, public health, psychology, sociology, etc.
Preferred Work Experience:
1) 2+ years clinical research experience
Skills and Competencies:
Seeks/completes additional research education and training.
Human Subjects Protection training (CITI) and any additional training as specified by the IRB prior to beginning any actual work on research protocols.
Knowledge of data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
Solid Computer Skills, including Databases.
A basic understanding of data collection and research principles is preferred.
May possess working knowledge of State & Federal Regulations as they relate to research.
Highly detail-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
