POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Senior Research Manager and Principal Investigator, the Clinical Research Coordinator II (CRC II) will perform research and research support activities using approved techniques. The CRC II conducts patient recruitment, administers questionnaires, abstracts medical records, maintains patient databases, enters data into sponsor-specific electronic data capture forms, performs administrative tasks, assists in grant preparation, grant supporting document preparation, and participates with the research team and pediatric research services central team in preparation of data and other reports. Will also assist with audits and quality. Must be able to work independently and make sound judgment with study protocols, data evaluation, and recruitment strategies. Prepares and presents data reports and oversees work of research assistants. The CRC II will also perform organizational tasks, scheduling, and consultations with researchers across the department to support research study initiation and on-going maintenance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Evaluate and track the eligibility of all patients seen in the clinic for eligibility in research studies. Make independent judgments as to their suitability for the study.
- Conduct telephone interviews in English and Spanish.
- Schedule patients for study visits.
- Obtain informed consent (for non-treatment studies) in English and Spanish, and register patients to cohort studies and other protocols.
- Review and abstract the medical records for patients.
- Access patient demographic and clinical information from the clinical systems.
- Enter information into the appropriate EMR and eCRF systems and departmental systems in an accurate manner.
- Collect and organize patient data. Review data for quality and completeness and recommends changes to protocols and data evaluation.
- Assist with the coordination of the collection, processing, organization, and storage of biological specimens in the systems
- May be responsible for IRB and regulatory submissions and maintenance of regulatory files
- Maintain on-going communications with research managers and PIs for data collection needs.
- Develops and implements patient recruitment strategies.
- Oversees work of research assistants and students
- Prepares and presents data reports and findings.
- Other duties include send out mailings, take inventory/ordering supplies, monitor and set up equipment.
- Train and orient new research assistants and other staff
Pediatric Research:
- Trains and on-boards research assistants in the department on basic research related tasks
- Perform research initiation and maintenance consultations with researchers across the department on topics such as grant preparation, IRB submissions, and research database development
- Assist with REDCap database builds
- Assist researchers with developing standard operating procedures
- Assist researchers with regulatory coordination of their studies, including assuring protocol adherence and quality assurance
- Guide research faculty and staff towards appropriate trainings to keep up-to-date on the conduct of research
- Assist with scheduling, meeting and conference coordination, and associated documentation
- Assist with purchase orders and invoicing for research studies and the centralized research administration

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- CRC II: Experienced Level Position
- Master's Degree OR
- 2-5 years of experience in related field
- Clinical research experience
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical research experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Excellent organization and communications skills required.
- Must be fluent in Spanish language.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and externals contacts.
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to follow-through.
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload. Must practice discretion and adhere to hospital confidentiality guidelines at all times.
- Must have high degree of computer literacy, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently
- Analytical skill and ability to resolve technical problems and interpret acceptability of data results.
- Expertise in REDcap database development preferred
- Experience with clinical trials and regulatory compliance preferred
