HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to serve as the lead coordinator for a randomized controlled trial (RCT) study evaluating a relationship enrichment program that seeks to equip military couples with evidence-informed strategies to adaptively cope with stressors as a unified team. Travel to research sites may be required.
This position will be in support of The Suicide CPR Initiative, previously known as the Laboratory for the Treatment of Suicide-Related Ideation and Behavior, established in 2006. Dr. Holloway, the Director of the Suicide CPR Initiative, is a clinical psychologist and an intervention scientist who is primarily interested in developing and empirically evaluating novel interventions for suicide risk reduction. The Suicide CPR Initiative is strategically in a unique position to focus on the problem of military suicide, given its origins at USU and its established partnerships with the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs, as well as national and international collaborators and stakeholders. Overall, the mission of the Suicide CPR Initiative is threefold: CARE: To develop effective interventions targeted at reducing suicidal thoughts and/or behaviors; PREVENTION: To save lives through education, intervention, science, and advocacy; RESEARCH: To advance suicide intervention science and practice.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Responsibilities:
- Participates in the design, administration, and monitoring of investigations under the supervision of the principal investigator; contributes to protocol development, study operational procedures and forms development, and study implementation..
- Provides coordination and execution of human subjects’ research activities; ensures ongoing compliance with study procedures and guidelines; maintains study-related documents.
- Monitors, assesses, and supports participant recruitment, consenting, and retention success; ensures that confidentiality and security of data are maintained.
- Conducts literature reviews and assists with the preparation of scientific writing for submission to scientific journals, professional conferences, and funding agencies; assists with grant proposal preparation.
- Adheres to legal, professional, and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assures that protocol-related activities are performed in compliance with relevant federal and Department of Defense regulations.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience working with military populations is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and Department of Defense regulations and policies pertinent to research involving humans.
- Experience drafting and maintaining SOPs.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, identify problems in real-time, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and to work with individuals of all levels.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Note: This work site requires that Non-US Citizen incumbents have lived in the US three out of the past five years.
