HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to perform clinical research and patient treatment in conjunction with one or more specified clinical research protocols. Developing adherence to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Helps assure that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices. This is the first of four levels, and the entry level position for the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) series.
This position will be in support of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Behavioral Biology Research (BBR) Branch in Silver Spring, MD. The research mission of the BBR aims to develop knowledge products and materiel solutions to enhance Soldier alertness, decision-making, and performance in the context of degraded sleep quantity and quality across the spectrum of Army operations. The BBR Branch consists of three sections, the Performance Assessment and Chemical Evaluation (PACE) section, the Operational Research Team (ORT), and the Sleep Research Center (SRC). BBR’s basic services include the exploration and development of strategies, technologies, and pharmacologics for monitoring, preventing, and/or reversing the decrementing effects of sleep loss, traumatic stress, and fatigue on cognitive, emotional, physical, and other areas of performance to enhance Warfighter resilience, health, and operational performance. This CRC position will support the Operational Research Team.

Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
This position is dependent on contract award.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in the design, administration and monitoring of clinical trials.
- Analyzes and evaluates clinical data gathered during research.
- Ensures compliance with protocol and overall clinical objectives.
- Conduct military field research, including preparing materials, coordinating travel, and communicating with unit leadership to facilitate research activities.
- Oversee timelines and analysis of data using statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, R) and other study related software (e.g., Actiware, Qualtrics, ANAM) to ensure success of projects and efficiency in providing briefs to military leadership.
- Review, develop, and submit regulatory paperwork, including new protocols, amendments, and reports totaling more than 20 submissions across 18 active protocols and 4 protocols in development.
- Maintain regulatory files throughout the protocol lifecycle and ensure all study related documents are updated per Human Subjects Protection Branch and Institutional Review Board requirements.
- Transcribes and resolves queries of data in case report forms (hardcopy or electronic) and prepares documents, under direction of project heads.
- Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assures that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices.
- Assists with monitoring audits/visits for protocols. Travels from their assigned workplace to support protocols at other sites as needed.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's, RN, or BSN degree or equivalent required
- Minimum of 0-2 years experience required. 1 year experience in the field or in a related area.
- Knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements is required.
- Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Relies on instructions and pre- established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of federal and local regulations and policies pertinent to research involving human subjects.
- Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and to work with individuals of all levels.
Physical Capabilities
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in a clinic setting.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $43,650-$65,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
