Short Description
Under the direction of the Director of Risk Management & Insurance, the Risk Manager (RM) is responsible to support and carry out the risk management related program activities on a day-to-day basis.
Acts as a resource by presenting relevant risk management issues for discussion and evaluation of potential risk reduction strategies, policy and/or organizational changes.
Ensures effective loss prevention and loss control in compliance with state, federal and CUH standards.
Conducts investigation of unanticipated/unexpected clinical outcomes, preventable significant clinical outcomes and potential compensable events (PCEs).
Participates in the analysis of risk management data, develops and conducts risk management educational programs, and provides risk management advice with the objective of maintaining patient safety, enhancing quality care, and minimizing loss across the Health system including ambulatory and hospital care locations.
Prepares various incident summary reports, provides all required documentation for investigations, activities Ability to work independently and collaboratively in interacting with staff, department leadership and clinical providers on sensitive clinical practice issues.
Must demonstrate and apply knowledge of federal and state statutes specific to health care, medical terminology and hospital or department policies, procedures and practices.
Requires ability to manage and negotiate in emotional and confrontational situations, with sensitivity to operations and culture of the facility and health system as a whole.
