Performs a multitude of administrative office tasks in a fast paced team centered department with the goal of providing outstanding customer service to patients and staff. Must be self-directed and have strong communication skills, be organized, able to multi-task and prioritize work with attention to detail. Proficient with all essential functions of Clinical Secretary job description. Assists Clinical Manager and Director with department operations.
Job Description:
+ Verifies patient eligibility and insurance benefits. Coordinates referrals/authorization for services and ancillary tests.
+ Follows up as needed with insurance companies, patient and referring physician prior to patient's visit to ensure proper insurance authorization, registration and billing needs.
+ Submits billing information and documentation as required for appropriate reimbursement. Follows up on all denials.
+ Responsible for obtaining updated insurance guidelines and billing requirements and educates the staff.
+ Readily assists in maintaining staff levels by covering at front desk as needed.
+ Assists with all front desk administrative functions.
+ Assists Clinical Manager with work assignments and scheduling of front desk staff and MA's with providers.
+ Responsible for data entry, audits, and creates and generates reports as needed.
+ Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure a smooth workflow and high patient satisfaction. Maintains open and courteous communication with patients, families, co-workers and physicians.
+ Works in close collaboration with Clinical Manager and Director in daily operations to ensure a seamless delivery of high-quality patient care services.
+ Works in close collaboration with the Clinical Manager and Director on the fiscal clearance of each patient.
+ Assists with the orientation and training of new employees.
+ At times and when directed, may provide guidance and support to others while acting as a resource, trainer and/or preceptor.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
+ High school diploma or equivalent. College degree and/or business courses preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
+ 1-3 years clerical/secretarial experience in a medical office/healthcare setting. Experience with insurance claims, authorizations and denials.
Required Skills

+ Must possess verbal and written skills to communicate effectively and courteously with a diverse group of professional and non-professional members of the health care team, patients and family/significant others.
+ Computer and typing skills required. Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Physical Demands
+ Prolonged sitting and repetitive skills such as typing and filing.
