Compensation:
We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $59,092.80 to $69,430.40 and is commensurate with experience.
SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Setting Addictions Counselor for our Behavioral Health Services department at our 60 O Street location.
Position Description: The Clinical Setting Addictions Counselor provides individual counseling, group facilitation, intake, and assessment of clients in the addictions treatment program.
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm & Tuesday and Thursday, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. The position is in-person at our Benning Road location in NE Washington, DC.
Qualifications
Required: Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling; or Certified Addictions Counselor DC license; 1-2 years of experience providing addiction treatment or mental health services; experience providing services to the homeless population.
Preferred: 3-5 years of experience providing addiction treatment or mental health services; experience providing services to the homeless population.
Required License/Certification: 1) LGSW/LCPC from the District of Columbia Department of Health OR Certified Addictions Counselor I or II (CAC I or II) ; CPR/First-Aid certificate
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Facilitation skills
- Team orientated
- Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues including co-occurring diagnoses in a residential setting
- Ability to use creativity, strengths-based approach, and evidence-based practices with client
- Flexibility with the ability to multi-task despite competing priorities
- Experience with DataWits, ECW strongly preferred
- Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Expected Contributions
Addiction Treatment Services
- Conduct initial individual assessments
- Assess clients for financial eligibility including Medicaid and APRA; make referrals for enrollment when needed
- Develop treatment plans and update them as needed
- Coordinate client care in different phases of treatment
- Provide outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment services to clients
- Develop and facilitate addictions groups
- Provide individual addictions counseling to clients in different phases of treatment
- Participate in treatment planning, supervision meetings, and interdisciplinary meetings
- Assess client readiness for the current level of care and transfer to residential treatment
- Conduct case management for clients in collaboration with staff and programs
- Complete discharge planning and make referrals to alternative programs as needed
- Write client progress notes and maintain documentation in required electronic health record systems
Reports to: Clinical Director
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods.
