Come join a great team at State Hospital West (SHW)! We are seeking a Clinician for SHW located in Nampa. SHW is a 16-bed Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Hospital (for adolescents between 11 and 18 years old) nestled between Ridgecrest and Centennial golf courses on a picturesque piece of state property along the Nampa Interstate 84 corridor. SHW provides psychiatric inpatient treatment care for Idaho’s adolescent citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living and is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and certified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

This position also requires applicants to become certified in CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
PATIENT ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
- Conducts diagnostic assessments and psychological evaluations on assigned patients.
- Conducts psychosocial evaluations of patient’s personality, intellectual, cognitive, development, vocational interest, and current mental status on assigned patients.
- Provides consultation to the Treatment Team on treatment intervention needs of patients.
- Performs assessments for patients at risk due to suicidal, homicidal, assaultive, or elopement behaviors and develops structured intervention for the Treatment Plan.
- Documents clinical observations and assessment data in the medical records per hospital policy and procedure.
PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC AND TREATMENT SERVICES
- Develops a treatment plan and provides psychotherapeutic treatment services to assigned patients.
- Provides individual psychotherapy utilizing a variety of modalities as indicated.
- Conducts group psychotherapy as needed and assigned.
- Conducts family therapy session as needed.
CASE MANAGEMENT
- Performs and coordinated ongoing case management services and discharge activities including application of entitlement, patient advocacy, placement arrangements, and related case management activities on behalf of assigned patients.
PROFESSIONAL CONSULTATION
- By participation in Treatment Team meetings serves as a professional consultant in matters of psychosocial assessment and treatment.
PROGRAM EVALUATION, QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
- Will provide professional programmatic assessment and evaluation for the Treatment Program and implement changes in program design as indicated.

You must possess all the minimum/specialty qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. SPECIALTY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires licensure in one of the following: Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Pastoral Counselor (LPAS), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT). Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.
- Experience providing case management services to youth with serious emotional disturbances typically gained by providing case management for a minimum of 12 months.
- Experience providing individual and family therapy services to youth and families typically gained by graduate level course completion and direct practice for a minimum of 12 months.
- Basic understanding of mental health system in Idaho and how to connect youth/families to community-based resources typically gained by providing case management services for a minimum of 12 months.
- Knowledge of mental health practices in adolescent psychiatric care facilities typically gained through direct work in psychiatric care facility or completing referrals for higher level psychiatric care for a minimum of 12 months.
- Ability to both works independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members typically gained through ongoing cross collaboration with various subject matter experts for a minimum of 12 months.
