Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 15 hours per week
Supervisor: Director of Family Support Services
Position Overview:
The Family Education Program is a child abuse prevention program that employs a strength-based and family-focused approach to engage families at risk of having a child placed outside of the home and/or where abuse or neglect has occurred.
The Clinician will provide therapeutic services for families who need support to process trauma, improve relationships, deepen family connections, and foster resiliency. The Clinician will utilize strength-based family therapy as well as other trauma-informed therapeutic modalities to strengthen and preserve families engaged in services. The Clinician will assess needs, safety plan, and provide crisis intervention as needed throughout the intervention. The Clinician will collaborate with internal and external team members with the goal of supporting families as the Family Education Program works to prevent out of home placement because of abuse, neglect, and trauma within the family system.

Job Requirements:
- New York State licensed mental health professional (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC) and minimum of two years working with children and families.
- Knowledge of childhood development and trauma informed therapy
- Experience working in a non-profit, human services setting preferred and working with a diverse population.
- Group work experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred, English/Spanish.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide family therapy to families engaged in the Family Education Program (FEP).
- Co-construct therapy goals with the family that align with the overall FEP program goal of increasing nurturing parenting skills and child safety.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team discussion of clients.
- Complete Adverse Childhood Experience screening assessment, as well as additional risk and safety assessments to inform development of service and safety plans.
- Provide crisis de-escalation and referrals for additional community resources, as needed.
- In collaboration with Family Educators, provide group support utilizing the Nurturing Parenting Program and Parenting Journey frameworks.
- Complete clinical documentation with accuracy and in a timely manner.
- Obtain and keep current credentials required for this position.
- Meet weekly with the Director of Family Support Services for clinical supervision and discussion of project initiatives.
- Attend weekly Family Education Program staff meetings to discuss cases, provide status reports on assigned projects, and review agencywide initiatives.
- Attend monthly case conferences with preventive and county partners for collaboration and case planning.
- Attend monthly agency wide staff meetings and along with the Director of Family Support Services, participate in presentations to the Board of Directors as needed.
- Willingness to work pre planned evenings as program requires to meet the needs of families.
- Other duties as assigned.
General Responsibilities:
- Strives to ensure that program services are of the highest quality possible, are client centered, and provide optimal outcomes using best practice interventions.
- In conjunction with the Director of Family Support Services, Vice President for Community Programs and Associate Director of Program Development & Outcomes Management, ensures timely filing of all reports to maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines, contract requirements and fiscal standards.
- Interacts with stakeholders, clients, referral sources, co-workers, and others in a positive, client-oriented manner; provides a positive example of professional behavior in the workplace.
- Adheres to the Agency’s Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrates solid interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and gain the confidence and credibility of key internal and external stakeholders.
- Responds supportively to changes in programs and policies and takes a broad view of one’s position by assuming additional responsibilities when the need arises.

Work Environment:
Therapeutic services will be provided at the Family Education Program office in Middletown, NY or in clients’ homes, depending on the need of the family. Occasional travel for sessions, meetings and training may be required.
