About the Job
The Safety Technician promotes manufacturing excellence by integrating modernized safety knowledge across Clow Valve’s workforce and provides logistics and support for the activities of the Occupational Health and Safety Department.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Sustainability:
- Consistently and with 100% accuracy provide timely reports across all safety databases on time or in advance of their weekly, monthly, or quarterly deadlines.
- Employee Experience:
- Organize and complete New Hire Safety Orientation monthly.
- Monitor the Near Miss system to ensure 100 % data transfer into Cority.
- Customer Experience:
- Support and participate in a minimum of 4 safety initiatives throughout the year
CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Compliance (60%): Accurately track and maintain all records pertaining to safety and proactively work with supervisors to ensure compliance with all employee training, risk management and facility inspections requirements; including but not limited to: scanning documents and filing electronically across multiple systems. Participate as an Administrator for Brainier, Cority, ISN, and Pillar, ensuring accurate records and distribution of all safety software systems. Provide support to the Safety Committees as directed with logistics, documentation, etc., in a timely manner. Ensure that the Machine Shop Manager has timely, accurate reports and support for monitoring of safety system. Monitor Bradylink system and add Lockout Tagout Checklists.
- Training Coordination (20%): Diligently research workforce schedules to ensure maximized timing of training as well as training effectiveness. Assists Safety Engineers with tasks up to and including creating, providing, and/or giving safety trainings as directed.
- Communication (10%): Enhance safety communications by creating content and updating REACH Monitors (Clow TV).
- Project Coordination (10%): Facilitate and implement all planning requirements for safety related events by coordinating the booking of event venues, equipment, merchandise, meal preparations and all other needs. Assist with logistics and support the safety engineer with safety projects, investigations, customer initiatives, and committee meetings.
Technical Skills:
• Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office, along with good computer skills.
• Understanding of web-based documentation and reporting systems (experience in Cority and Brainier a plus)
• Strong organizational skills
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is plus.
• Public Speaking confidence is a plus
Education & Experience:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent and 1 to 2 years of manufacturing experience in a safety capacity.
Preferred:
- Associate degree and 1 to 2 years of manufacturing experience in a safety capacity.
