CM Dallas Cooking School Instructor Part-Time - Starting Pay $20 an Hour - Central Market

Central Market is seeking a Cooking School Instructor with availability to include days, evenings, and weekends to handle the freshest quality ingredients. 

The Cooking School Instructor works under direct supervision. They will apply basic and some advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to area of specialization. Use of specialized subject matter knowledge required. 

Duties of this position include: 

• Ability to design and teach cooking school classes and draw in anaudience 
• Complete shopping for cooking schoolclasses 
• Assist in preparation for cookingclasses 
• Set up for cooking schoolclasses 
• Assist guest chefs during cooking schoolclasses 

• Ensure all kitchen equipment is in clean and proper workingorder 
• Assist in maintaining sanitation for entire kitchenarea 
• Demonstrate an interest in food and itspreparation 
• Provide superlative customerservice 
• Use suggestive selling techniques to maximizesales 

• Thorough understanding of cooking and techniques with the ability to communicate such concepts to a wideaudience 
• Can describe taste profiles for multiple categories offood 
• Demonstrate a strong interest in a wide variety of fooddiscussions/issues 
• Demonstrate/share expertise about food andtechniques 
• Continuously explore information about newfoods 

• Work to acquire a greater understanding of the full range of Central Marketproducts 
• Speak clearly, concisely, and in a logical organized manner using appropriate grammar and terminology 
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and proceduremanuals 
• Ability to speak effectively to a large crowd 
• Assist in class and recipe testing, asassigned 

Education and experience: 

• 2-5 years related experience in restaurants and/or catering aplus 
• Culinary school coursework/degree, related education or experiencepreferred 
• An extensive knowledge of food and culinary trends ispreferred 

• Previous food preparation experience isrequired 

Physical and Other Requirements: 

• Must be able to function in a fast-paced retailenvironment 
• Must be able to lift and carry to 75 pounds on regular basis up to 500 feet indistance 

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, and reach overhead and side toside throughoutshift 

• Must possess hand/fingerdexterity 
• Must be able to safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme temperatures 
• Must be able to work in a cooler environment on a regular basis and in an extreme cold environment on an occasionalbasis 
• Must be able to work in extreme heat from ovens andfryers 
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles 

• The noise level is usually moderate; rarely exposed to extremenoise
