Summary
Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in the clinical setting to assist physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and/or nursing staff.
Qualification Requirements
Must be proficient in obtaining vital signs, recording patient information accurately and keeping the nurse manager aware of any high-risk situations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of 2-year associate degree from an accredited program for medical assistants
• CPR and First Aid Certified
• Preferred experience in Acumen, and EPIC
• Passage of a criminal background check, OIG exclusion and drug screenings.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Computer skills using Microsoft (MS) Excel and SharePoint, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Teams, and various data management platforms.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service.
• Knowledge of ethics of confidentiality and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Essential Functions
• Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting area to the processing room
• Review and understand lab values.
• Obtains vital signs, which includes blood pressure, temperature, and pulse (radial or apical)
• Obtains patient weight and records the information in the chart via the EMR.
• Ability to effectively use the Hemocue machine after training and certification by qualified personnel.
• Check HGB of patient via fingerstick after training and certification by qualified personnel.
• Administer subcutaneous, intermuscular, or intra-dermal injections under direct supervision of a physician as required by protocol and documented in the patient’s chart.
• Check out patients in the clinical area.
• Responsible for the maintenance, inventory, security, and organization of the medication closet.

Physical Demands

• Reaching, grabbing, holding – fine motor skills.
• Extended periods in a stationary or standing position.
• Repetitive motion such as entering data into computer-based programs.
• Lift or move up to 10 pounds. Employees are expected to use appropriate ergonomics and tools such as hand carts for heavier loads.
Work Environment
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. The noise level is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear.
