About the Job
Meadow View Nursing Center is currently seeking a qualified RN to work as a CNA class instructor. The following is required for a candidate to qualify:
Qualifications: The RN Instructor must be a Registered Nurse with two years of experience, at least one year in the provision of long-term care facility services. The RN Instructor must successfully complete the “Train-the-Trainer” program approved by the state.
RN INSTRUCTION FUNCTIONS:
1. Is responsible for the actual training of Nursing Assistants.
2. Will be available for remediation or make-up time as per program policy.
3. Will conduct classroom and clinical activities of nursing assistants.
4. Will manage the approved education program and submit approval forms as required by the Government Agencies.
5. Will submit, in writing, any training/education program changes to appropriate regulatory agencies.
6. Will continually assess the nurse assistant certification education program to assure that the approved program is implemented.
7. Will teach the instructional/clinical aspects of the 120 hour program to prepare nursing assistants for the certification exam.
8. Will notify resource personnel of program schedule.
9. Will continually update and revise training program curriculum to satisfy OBRA regulations, the Pennsylvania Department of Education standards and the staff development needs for the facility.
10. Will maintain all academic files for students including attendance records, grade records, skills checklist, and will be responsible to maintain confidentiality of those records.
11. Will maintain, update and revise the course calendar, instructor’s schedule, lesson plans, lecture notes and skills checklists.
12. Will initiate student evaluation of the Nurse Aide Training Program and other instructors.
13. Will develop a plan of correction and recommendations from state surveyors and submit those changes to the program coordinator for approval and submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
14. Will attend Pennsylvania Department of Education seminars as directed by the Program Coordinator and will initiate policy or program changes and submit new information to the program coordinator.
15. Will initiate the State Competency Examination process by filling out the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Program Registration form with trainees at the time of graduation and monitor the 120 day limit for testing in cooperation with the Personnel Department.
16. Will be evaluated for job performance by the Program Coordinator.
17. Will meet annually with the Nurse Aide Advisory Committee to evaluate trends, DOII surveys and training outcomes.
Physical activities for this position involve: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing and stooping.
This position reports to the Director of Nursing Services. The instructor will be needed on a full-time basis for CNA classes. The instructor must follow guidelines and requirements set forth through the Department of Health as well as the Department of Education.
