About the Job
The CNC Field Service Technician will understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to effectively detect and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical components. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Travel to customer sites within regional territory (PA, NY, and WV) to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair and maintain CNC machine tool equipment and controls; daily travel with overnight hotel stays required
- Support additional Service calls including operator training, networking between systems, software applications, preventative maintenance, major assembly replacements and alignments, overhauls/refurbishments, upgrades/retrofits, and un-installation services.
- Detect and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical components
- Utilize machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues
- Effectively communicate machine issues, status of installation, or status of machine repair to customer; ensure proper documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer
- Exhibit ownership of customer related problems and coordinate with appropriate departments when necessary for resolution of problems to ensure customer service satisfaction
- Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay updated on new developments in the field including company product lines, vendor products, and other technologies
- Conduct machine maintenance training as a component of after-sales technical support
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience with a CNC machine tool builder or distributor; equivalent factory, manufacturing, or CNC maintenance technician experience also considered
- Proficient verbal and written communication and customer relation skills
- Ability to interact and positively communicate in person and over the phone with internal and external customers
- Must be adaptable to changes and flexible when dealing with delays, or general work-related issues
- Working knowledge and understanding of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must have, and/or be willing/capable of being trained to develop, electro-mechanical skills (motors, drives, transformers etc.)
- Knowledge of machine tool manufacture, installation, operation, maintenance & repair and/or a broad shop background, is a plus.
- Experience working with CNC controls; Fanuc extremely beneficial
- Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
- Must be able to work unscheduled overtime without notice
- Valid driver’s license and auto/vehicle insurance required
- Ability to travel regionally up to 50% of the workweek; some overnight travel required.
- Must provide basic hand tools for electrical/mechanical repair
