CNC Lathe Machinist at L.M. Gill Welding & Manufacturing

L.M. Gill Welding & Manufacturing, a Naval Defense manufacturing company located in Manchester, CT is projecting substantial growth due to increases in DOD spending. We are looking for experienced CNC Lathe Machinists who are proficient in Set-up on both CNC Lathe and manual machines.

The ideal candidate should have experience in:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Set-up and operation of Okuma and Doosan live tool Y-Axis CNC LATHES and/or HMC, VMC and 5-Axis CNC Milling machines (Okuma and Haas), familiarity with G CODE for programming parts, due to short runs and with multiple set-ups.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read blueprints and inspect their own work, using standard measuring equipment, e.g. micrometers and calipers.
• Working knowledge of Mastercam, or similar software, is a strong plus but not a requirement. Please note that this is a Machinist, not a Machine Operator, position.

Duties and responsibilities include:

· Work within and support the culture of an AS9100 and ISO9001:2015

· Setup and run CNC Lathes and/or CNC Mills with little guidance

· Read and understand blueprints and specifications of the complexity of the aerospace and defense shipbuilding industries.

· Work as a team player and stay on task as a self-starting individual.

· Adjust to the ever-changing workflow, cross train, and perform multiple tasks as required.

· Support continuous process improvement initiatives through a willingness to think creatively to solve problems and accept better ways of doing things.
