About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Operator/Programmer to operate and program CNC lathe machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, with expertise in both operating and programming CNC lathe equipment to produce high-precision parts for material handling needs. The role requires a strong understanding of blueprints, machining processes, and programming languages to ensure the efficient production of high-quality parts.
In this role, you will…
- CNC Lathe Setup & Operation: Set up and operate CNC lathe machine, ensuring optimal performance and precision during the machining process.
- Programming: Write, modify, and optimize CNC lathe programs using G-code or other programming languages to meet job specifications. Utilize CAM software if applicable.
- Tooling and Fixture Setup: Select, install, and set up appropriate tools, fixtures, and workpieces for each job, ensuring safety and accuracy.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of workpieces using various measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, and gauges) to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to machine operations, tooling, and programming to maintain continuous production.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on CNC lathe machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement as needed to ensure machinery runs smoothly.
- Blueprint and Technical Specification Review: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machine setups and tooling requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to processes, tooling, and programming to increase efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve part quality.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, machinists, and production teams to coordinate workflow, resolve technical issues, and meet production deadlines.

- CNC programming certification (e.g., from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills - NIMS).
- Experience with multi-axis CNC machines and advanced CNC programming techniques.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for enhanced programming and design.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in CNC lathe operation and programming, with a proven ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC lathe machines.
- Proficiency in writing and modifying CNC programs (G-code, Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, etc.) and experience with CAM software.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials, along with the ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to measure and inspect parts using a variety of tools, ensuring the ability to meet precise tolerances (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, or programming issues quickly.
- Exceptional focus on quality control, accuracy, and continuous process improvement.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
