Job Description – CNC-LATHE Specialist Level 3
JOB TITLE
CNC-LATHE Specialist
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The CNC-LATHE Specialist reports to the CNC-LATHE Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Required: High School diploma or GED.
Preferred: Vocational School Certificate
Experience
Required: A minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC-LATHE or tooling production.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
Must have strong math skills.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees of varying education levels.
Must be competent at inspecting and precision measuring with the utilization of different measuring devices including but not limited to: micrometers, height gages and indicators.
Responsible for acting in accordance with all company core values, policies and procedures.
Responsible for working closely with other managers in the coordination of efforts between departments that is required to ensure proper and timely delivery of product to customers.
Responsible for assuring employee time records are accurate and always submitted according to company schedules.
Responsible for identifying areas requiring upgrade of employee skills and provides or oversees training to address needed skills.
Responsible for providing input to company training programs 6.11 Responsible for delivering training to employees.
6.12 Responsible for assuring compliance to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality standards throughout entire area of responsibility.
6.13 Responsible for continuously training, assuring competence, empowering, and delegating tasks to qualified employees to serve as group leaders or supervisors.
6.14 Responsible for performing any other duties as may be assigned by the CNC-LATHE Manager.
6.15 Responsible for accurately and timely setting up machines and/or equipment in accordance with the job and/or task requirements.
6.16 Responsible for producing each job and/or task, in accordance with the customer’s and company requirements.
6.17 Responsible for producing each job and/or task, in accordance with the allotted number of production hours or router times
6.18 Responsible for operating and maintaining all related equipment as well as to developing and implementing a preventive maintenance process for each machine.
6.19 Responsible for consistently accounting and recording the hours spent per job.
6.20 Responsible for securing all small tools and returning to proper location at the end of each day of work.
6.21 Responsible for consistently maintaining the work area in a clean, organized and professional manner – i.e.: clean floors, machines, tools secured, etc., in accordance with company standards
6.22 Responsible for implementing on-going "5-S" procedures to ensure the establishment of operational stability required to making and sustaining continuous improvements.
6.23 Responsible for performing quality control checks on all jobs and to work with minimal
Supervision.
6.24 Responsible for working consistently within the company’s safety practices and procedures
6.25 Responsible for demonstrating a working knowledge level of the standard operating procedures as defined by ISO 9001 and ISO 13485
6.26 Responsible for consistently following all company’s policies and procedures.
6.27 Responsible for working closely with Manager in the development and implementation of the agreed upon training plan and schedule.
6.28 Responsible for following and completing additional instructions and directions from Manager

7.0 SPECIFIC DEPARTMENTAL TASKS AND DUTIES
7.1 Responsible for showing a strong understanding of the CNC-LATHE programming and set up functions. Provides technical support to the CNC-LATHE programming and set up functions.
7.2 Responsible for working closely with the Dept. Manager to order material/supplies in accordance with the needs and the budget of the company and in keeping with the Company’s P.O. system.
7.3 Responsible for developing, implementing and on-going supervision of the company’s CNC-LATHE production process. Ensures each customer job is completed in accordance with the required specifications; within the agreed upon customer delivery timeframe; with high quality workmanship and within budget. Provides technical expertise as needed to assure top quality products.
7.4 Responsible for the on-time delivery of all completed CNC-LATHE customer orders. This may require assuring sufficient time is left for operations subsequent to the CNC-LATHE operations.
7.5 Responsible for ensuring that all CNC-LATHE equipment is maintained in conformance with the company’s preventative maintenance process and the manufacturer’s requirements.
7.6 Responsible for providing high quality CNC-LATHE programming, program editing, and set up functions.
7.7 Responsible for providing strong/direct daily guidance to the CNC-LATHE employees to ensure the daily production goals are achieved for all shifts.
7.8 Responsible for working closely with the QA manager and Engineering team to eliminate or reduce the cost of re-work.
7.9 Responsible for meeting or exceeding the production output targets for each shift of the area of responsibility.
7.10 Responsible for turn and face multiple diameter parts, less a supplied program.
7.11 Responsible for changing between a 3- Jaw chuck and collet holder.
7.12 Responsible for loading program into memory from USB, Disk or DNC
7.13 Responsible for editing CNC-LATHE programs for speeds, feeds and tool changes and offsets.
7.14 Responsible for setting tool length offsets and radii compensations.
7.15 Responsible for using caliper, micrometer, depth micrometer and height gage with indicator to inspect parts. 7.16 Responsible for using MASTECAM program to edit/modify a program
7.17 Responsible for Setting-up all OEM products (Hytorc and MAQUET) /parts in expected time.
7.18 Responsible for using ANVIL-1000 CAD program to view drawings and interrogate dimensions.
7.19 Responsible for mounting, indicating and boring soft jaws to hold workpiece
7.20 Responsible for using MDI to create a new CNC-LATHE program using G-Codes and M-Codes independently
7.21 Responsible for using programmable saw to cut automatically.
7.22 Responsible for selecting proper speeds and feeds for most materials by calculating chip-load.
