Seeking CNC Machine Operator Mill/Lathe (Skill Level II)
Day Shift Only 7am-3:30pm
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: (Minimum education, training, skills and experience)
Must be able to safely operate various machine centers and numerical lathes; set-up and trouble-shooting skills preferred. Shop equipment includes machine centers, numerical lathes, manual mills and lathes, saws, drill press, lead screw tapper. Must be able to perform inspection functions, including first piece inspection, utilizing inspection and measuring equipment (such as calipers, micrometers, depth mics, drop indicators, pin gages, thread gages, profilometers, and functional gages). Ability to use CMMs or optical comparator preferred. Must be able to read and understand prints, finish specifications, bills of material, routers, and work instructions.
JOB ELEMENTS:
- Protect yourself, your co-workers, and your company by maintaining a safe work environment. Keep work areas clean and orderly. Immediately report to your supervisor any problems that may have an impact on safety.
- Take responsibility for all dimensional and cosmetic characteristics of the parts worked. Consider the next operator as your customer who must be satisfied. Quality must be built in each step of manufacturing; it cannot be introduced at the end.
- Notify lead or Inspection if parts are potentially nonconforming upon inspection.
- Initiate revision requests on documents (prints, specifications, bills of material, routers and/or work instructions) when processes or practices are changed to ensure documents reflect current practice. Help maintain accurate labor routings by supplying accurate set-up and run times; report errors and the need for corrections or adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed. Accurately and legibly record work output on routers.
- Request equipment maintenance when necessary, based on poor equipment performance or nonconforming parts.
- Record scrap material and rework. Records of scrapped material and parts are important for accurate inventory control. Also, the total value of scrap and rework is a good indicator of where effort is needed to solve problems.
- Immediately report to lead or management any problems or shortages which may impact safety, quality, the schedule or the company.
- Protect the company’s investment and maintain a productive work environment by maintaining equipment and property provided. Report to management any problems relating to company equipment or property.
- Perform other assignments or tasks as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and smell. The employee must lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
