Summary:
As a CNC Machining Engineer in our powertrain remanufacturing facility, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing CNC machining processes for a wide range of powertrain components. You'll program and operate CNC machines to precision-machine remanufactured parts such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, and transmission cases, ensuring they meet or exceed OEM specifications. Your role will involve creating and refining G-code programs, selecting appropriate tooling and fixturing, and continuously improving machining efficiency and quality. This position requires expertise in CNC programming, a deep understanding of powertrain components, and the ability to adapt machining processes for the unique challenges of remanufacturing.Responsibilities:
- Develops equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analyses, and integration proposals for machinery such as CNC lathes, CNC mills, robotic controllers, and programmable controllers.
- Writes and understands CNC (G-code) programs.
- Oversees equipment installation and ensures proper functioning according to specifications.
- Tests the ability of machines, including robots, to perform tasks.
- Collaborates with establishment personnel to implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
- Determines parts supply, maintenance tasks, safety procedures, and service schedules for machines and equipment.
- Develops models of alternative processing methods and recommends improved procedures.
- Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay updated on industry developments.
- Provides technical information to other departments such as marketing, legal, and engineering.
- Develops and conducts equipment training programs.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Ensures development and adherence to QS 9000 and MS 9000 system policies, procedures, and instructions.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years of related experience and/or training.
- Proficiency in CNC machine operations and setup concepts, including setting offsets, work coordinates, and tool lengths.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial equipment integration.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various departments and personnel.
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as QS 9000 and MS 9000.
- Willingness to stay current with new developments in the field.
