Waev Inc. is an electric mobility OEM founded in 2021 to manufacture, distribute, market, and support the GEM, Taylor-Dunn and Tiger brands. GEM was the first commercially-produced, street-legal low-speed vehicle in the United States. GEMs shuttle people and goods across city centers, residential communities, government campuses, colleges and universities, and other micro-environments. Tiger heavy-duty tow tractors have been towing cargo, baggage, parcel, and other equipment in ground support applications since 1981. JOB SUMMARY:
Ensures all fabricated parts are conforming to engineering specifications. Operate automatic saws, press brakes, bender, notcher, ironworker, sheet metal shear and CNC equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all company safety rules, policies and procedures
Will operate NC or CNC equipment.
- Ability to read/interpret blueprint engineering drawings
- Keep machines and work area clean and organized daily
Selects proper raw materials from steel rack.
- Move completed work orders in MES system
Sets up, adjusts and operates conventional and CNC machine tools to perform diversified and difficult operations to close and exacting tolerances. Setups may involve improvisation to accomplish results.
Plans and determines set up procedures and operating sequences. Selects tooling, spindle speeds, tool feed rates and work piece securing methods best suited to the operation.
Positions, aligns and secures work piece in machine, using care to avoid distortion that may affect finished dimensions. Compares machine part to blueprint using all necessary measuring tools. Presents part to department lead for a first article inspection. When the production run is finished, has work order signed off. Moves parts to next operation and stores in a safe place.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:
- Min 1-2 years' hands shop experience in operating press brakes, saws, ironworker, bender, sheet metal shear preferred
- CNC machining experience is required
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent required. Courses in machining, CNC & NC equipment and machine technology desirable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- May have exposure to loud noise levels, dust, fumes, and chemicals.
- Requires extensive use of the eyes and firm grasping and/or fine manipulation using both hands.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs, bend, twist, turn, kneel, squat, reach overhead, perform strong pinch and grip, and stand/walk up to 8 hours or more per day.
