VadaTech is a world leader in the design and manufacture of embedded computing solutions. Our team is growing, and we are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for our manufacturing location in Henderson, NV. This role is for second shift (working 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm). The role requires flexibility to support first shift or split shift as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Set-up and operate multi-axis (true 5-axis, 3+2) CNC (Vertical).
• Set-up and operate CNC Lathe with Y-Axis & Live Tooling.
• Develop a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications.
• Define and document set-up required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan.
• Monitor the production process and intervene when problems arise.
• Ability to work in a high-mix, low-volume production environment dominantly consisting of first part runs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to support set-up & operation of multiple first-run parts in a week.
• Capable of holding tight tolerances associated with the machining of precision parts
• Ability to update CNC programs based on data from quality and other sources
• Operate both automated and manual machines such as knee mill, drill press, surface grinder, laser cutter, manual/automatic part wash system, bead blast equipment, hardware installation (helical inserts, clinch nuts)
• Use measuring gauges including micrometers, calipers, height gauge, depth gauge, bore gauges, Mahr gages, and others to inspect manufactured parts, in order to ensure adherence to drawing tolerances. Ability to learn and use new inspection equipment such as hand-held CMM and Vision Inspection Systems.
• Interface directly with internal customers or departments to deliver an estimate of completion and tooling requirements of individual machined projects.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting 3D & 2D engineering models
.• Perform machine shop set-up and equipment maintenance tasks.
• Assist with other metals parts and fixture fabrication work, as needed -- including cutting, jigging, powder coating, welding, physical dimensioning, etc.
• Perform daily cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery.
• Ensure all manufacturing safety & regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times.
• Actively practice a culture of 5S (Sort, Set and Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) in the machine shop.
Requirements
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in multi-axis (5-axis) CNC. Experience in Mazak 5-axis a plus
• Ability to review part prints and assure machining accuracy
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Additional experience with welding, grinding, and waterjet is a plus
• Basic knowledge of Mastercam required
• Ability to trouble shoot CNC programs for issues and errors.
• Knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing and its application to the machine shop environment
• Strong experience with using standard inspection tools and methods in the evaluation of machined parts
• Creative problem solver, able to work in multi-disciplinary teams
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work in both R&D and production rate environments
Education/Certifications:
- Minimum requirement - Certification related to Machining or Machine Tool Technology
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC machinist role is required, 7+ years of experience is preferred
