The CNC O.D. Grinder Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of CNC O.D. grinders to size round tooling to print specifications of a repetitive nature. This role involves effective communication with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate work activities. We're now offering a $3.00 shift differential for 2nd shift!
Job Responsibilities:
- Effectively review work orders, materials to be ground, and print specifications to determine specifications, allowable tolerances, and grinding procedures.
- Set up the CNC O.D. grinder, including selecting the appropriate grinding wheel based on the material to be ground, mounting, balancing, and dressing new wheels, and changing wheels when necessary.
- Select proper jigs or fixtures, speeds, feeds, and table stops to ensure accurate grinding operations.
- Control excess stock removal by adjusting the machine controls.
- Inspect all pieces being ground using micrometers or other gauges to ensure they meet specified size tolerances.
- Maintain precision, typically working to a tolerance between .0002” to .0005”.
- Report any defective work or materials to the supervisor.
- Keep the CNC O.D. grinder lubricated and report any needed repairs.
- Maintain cleanliness of the machine and workplace.
Job Requirements:
- Successful experience performing repetitive work requiring attention to detail
- Capable of becoming proficient in setting up and operating CNC O.D. grinders.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and specifications.
- Experience in micrometer and gauge measurements.
- Attention to detail and precision in work.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of tooling materials, including machined and heat-treated steel, round tooling, dies, die inserts, and carbide nibs.
Pay: The hourly range is between $28-34/hr based on your education, skills, and experience. 2nd shift offers a $3.00 shift differential!
Schedule: Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm. Overtime and Saturdays may be required based on production levels.
