Overview
A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining computer-controlled machines that fabricate parts and components to precise specifications. They interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring quality and efficiency in production.
Responsibilities
- Machine Setup:
- Set up CNC machines according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Load and unload raw materials onto machines.
- Adjust machine settings to achieve desired tolerances and finishes.
- Machine Operation:
- Monitor machine operations to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Detect and troubleshoot machine malfunctions.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to prevent downtime.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Identify and report any defects or inconsistencies.
- Documentation:
- Complete necessary paperwork, including production records, quality inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
- Safety:
- Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in CNC machine operation, preferably with experience in [specific CNC machine types, e.g., lathes, mills].
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in CNC machining.
- Experience with programming CNC machines using CAM software.
