SUMMARY: Operates automated and manual equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
- Reads job specifications or work instructions to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template, as required.
- Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
- Locks pieces in place.
- Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.
- Reports work piece defects or machine malfunction to working foreman.
- Makes minor adjustments.
- Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
- Inspects parts per SPC requirements and charts when needed or required and enters into computer.
- Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies or work pieces.
- Operates hand tools to remove burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece.
- Assists in machine set up, and stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished work pieces.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires knowledge typically acquired through:
- Completion of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED),
- One to three years related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
- Ability to comprehend simple decimals and fractions.
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to perform minor adjustments to tools and equipment.
- Ability to maintain tools and equipment utilized in assignments.
