PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develop, program, evaluate, troubleshoot, and recommend CNC machine tools, utilizing personal computers, CAM software, and DNC systems. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Develop efficient CNC programs and related materials using tool drawings, fixture drawings, part prints, and associated documents. + Work with operators, lead people, supervisors, manufacturing engineers, and other internal and external resources to optimize old and new processes and assist in training of these processes. + Recommend new or revised tooling, fixtures, equipment, software, and process improvements to support efficient operations. + Conduct special studies, assist with capital research, serve on special teams, and provide support for Statistical Process Control (SPC) or other quality initiatives as required. + Proactively communicate operations, problems, and opportunities as they arise. + Take positive action to advance personal knowledge of manufacturing technology, CNC programming, CAM software, DNC technology, and related information. + Maintain appropriate records and documentation to assist in the control and evaluation of programming operations. + Assist in the development of a safe working environment through the use of occupational safety and health standards, including ergonomic principles. + Other related duties as required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: + High school diploma or equivalent required. + Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Automation, or related AA or AS degree preferred. + Training or experience working with CAM software required; EdgeCam preferred. + Varied CNC operating experience desirable. OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: + Requires extensive knowledge of machine processes, capabilities, and resources available. + Strong knowledge of general math, geometry, and trigonometry. + Visualization ability required. COMPUTER SKILLS: + Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook. + Knowledge of computer basics required. WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS: + Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions. + Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person. + Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use. + General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS + Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel. + Requires frequent contact with personnel from all departments, at all management levels, and outside vendors.
