About the Job
CNC Programmer
As a CNC Programmer is responsible for the scheduling of manufacturing parts throughout the fabrication department to achieve on-time delivery on all communicated ship dates. You will also coordinate schedules with various manufacturing departments and the sales department to ensure on-time delivery and efficient operations. You will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical blueprints, adjusting the machine cutting paths, and performing quality checks on the final product. You may also be required to assist in routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process. To ensure success as a CNC programmer, you should have extensive experience working in manufacturing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work unsupervised. In this role you will be expected to work quickly and efficiently to ensure all products meet the specifications of the engineering print.
Reporting directly to the Operation Excellence Manager
Major Accountability:
·Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of parts to determine the dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates according to knowledge of machine shop processes, part specifications, and machine capabilities.
·Prepares the setup sheet in CNC software to show location of reference points and setup instructions.
·Writes CNC programs for production.
·Collaborates with Engineering on part design issues and expected to follow through until a resolution is reached.
·Establishes routing to determine part flow through machines.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1.Creating programs on multiple machine types including laser cutters, turret punches, routers and cut-off saws to ensure that completed parts conform to print and process specifications.
2.Assisting in training of operators and provides technical resources to resolve issues.
3.Reading technical blueprints and design models.
4.Inputting the product design into the computer modeling software.
5.Choosing the correct cutting tools for each job.
6.Adjusting machine settings to the desired product specifications.
7.Troubleshooting issues during the manufacturing process.
8.Maintaining inventory of perishable tooling and ordering to replenish.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
·Advanced Experience with CNC programming and related software.
·Familiarity with Dynamic Machine Management, Optimation, JETCAM, and familiarity with MetaCAM is a plus.
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
·B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
·Understanding of various aspects of fabrication component manufacturing (Laser cutting, Turret Punches, Routers) and inspections.
·Familiarity with all aspects of inspection, GD&T, interpretation of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
·Strong attention to detail.
·Ability to work with minimal oversight.
