CNC Programmer - George P. Johnson Experience Marketing

About the Job
GPJ is looking for a CNC Programmer to join our Engineering team in our Smyrna, TN fabrication facility. As a CNC programmer, you will be involved in the creation of custom build structures for various types of events (trade shows, conferences, special events, etc.). You will be programming parts from provided drawings and/or models. You are responsible for the creation and revision of CNC programs for KOMO CNC routers and other advanced machinery such as CNC Plasma cutters, CNC Laser cutters, CNC Waterjet cutters, and Holzma Beam Saws. You must coordinate multiple jobs in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining quality and safety standards. You will work with a large variety of materials and tooling to produce desired results and to meet team goals.
What You'll Do
- Generate Cad drawings with Autodesk and NC programs using Router CIM.
- Perform machine setups and develop training material for CNC Technicians.
- Produce 3D models to ensure fit of parts and architecture.
- Create setup sheets with descriptions and detailed tool lists for each process
- Ensure highly accurate parts are produced and understand tolerance requirements of the industry.
- Assist with operation and troubleshooting to maintain production requirements
- Ensure that all CNC programs are tested before they are released to production
- Work with engineering on the design of fixtures and joinery used in production
- Work with engineering to ensure cycle time meets the production requirements
- Review current production programs for cycle time reduction opportunities
- Update CNC programs when engineering revises component or process details
- Have a complete comprehension of current production materials and sheet goods and cutting methods of each material.
What You'll Need
- Understand, read, and create blueprints and plans.
- CNC Software experience required; Router CIM preferred
- Must be proficient with AutoCAD, CIM software, 3D modeling, Generating NC Code; parameter based modeling with Inventor or Solidworks preferred.
- Diverse knowledge of machining processes, equipment, and cutting tools
- Must have strong computer skills and CNC programming background
- Must be able to operate CNC machinery
- Ability to work overtime as needed
