Job Title: Service Engineer

Location: Hoffman Estates, IL

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Classification: Non-Exempt

Travel Requirement: 50%

Job Overview: The Service Engineer provides on-site and remote support to customers by maintaining, repairing, and installing CNC machine tools. This role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting and working with machine controls, as well as strong customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide maintenance, repair, and installation services for CNC machine tools either on-site or via phone support.
  
• Create and update technical documentation.
  
• Generate and analyze reports related to service activities.
  
• Collaborate with customers and their service engineers, offering assistance and training on newer product lines.
  
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers through effective communication and service.
  
• Handle difficult customer situations with professionalism, ensuring prompt responses and soliciting feedback for continuous improvement.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
  
• 3-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and CNC machine maintenance.
  
• Experience with CNC machines and controls (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens) is a plus.
  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
  
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder diagrams.
  
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  
• Adaptability to changes, competing demands, and unexpected challenges.
  
• Must be able to travel up to 50% within a multi-state region.
  

Work Environment: The position involves exposure to both manufacturing environments (with potential hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, and heavy machinery) and general office settings.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent travel, vehicle operation, and physical activity, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting objects.
  
• Occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 50 lbs.
