CNC Setup Operator - Specialty Tooling Systems

Reports to: CNC Manager

Supervisory responsibilities: None. 

Summary/objective: Specialty Tooling Systems (STS) is seeking CNC Setup Operators to join their team! The CNC Setup Operator's job is to prepare the machine for operation, including loading the program and setting up the tools. Additionally, you select and set up the tools, test the program and ensure everything works as expected.

Essential functions: 

• Load the program, prepare the machine, and set up the tools
• Set up and operate the machine to perform tasks like drilling, cutting, and shaping
• Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance
• Keep work area clean. 
• Follow all safety rules and report unsafe work conditions to management. 
• Regular attendance at work during scheduled work hours. 
• Employees may be requested to perform other job functions as required. 

Required competency, education, and experience:  

• Experience as a CNC Setup Operator
• A well rounded knowledge of cutters and inserts, and feeds/speeds. 
• Candidate must have high school or equivalent education. 
• Candidate must have valid driver’s license 

Work environment: Manufacturing environment 

Physical demands:  

• Candidate must have full use of all limbs. 

• Candidate must be able to read and speak English. 

• Candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds. 

Position type and expected hours of work: Full time. Both day and night shift positions are available.

1. Day Shift: 40-50 hours per week. 6 am - 2:30/4:30 pm
2. Night Shift: 40-50 hours perf week. 4 pm to 12:30/2:30 am

Travel: None.
