Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School is a progressive, coed, academically-rigorous day and boarding school serving approximately 600 students from age three through 12th grade. The campus is located on 140 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the School is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.

Coach, Upper and Middle School
Sandy Spring Friends School is seeking dynamic and enthusiastic coaches. Candidates should possess appropriate coaching experience, and experience with children ages 12 - 14 is preferred, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to the school’s mission of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and social justice. Coaches need to be available from 2:30 - 4:00 pm for practices 4 days a week. Game times are generally between 4:00 and 6:30, but coaches need to be present from 2:30 pm for supervision on game days. This position is paid a stipend.
Responsibilities and Expectations
During Season:

Conducts oneself and the team in an ethical manner during practice and in contests.

Makes sure that all equipment and facilities are used appropriately and respectfully.

Organizes and supervises all players on the team during athletic practices, including riding the bus to away games.

Plans practice sessions prior to practice with the idea of player development and inclusion for all levels.

Disciplines and follows all athletic department guidelines in regard to playing time and missed practices, etc.

Emphasizes safety precautions and uses accepted training and injury procedures.

Works with the Athletic Trainer in the event of player injuries.

Reports outcome of contests to the Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director.

Attends all Athletic Department, and League scheduled meetings when applicable.
End of Season:

Collects all school equipment/uniforms from the team.

Maintains records of both team and individual accomplishments.

Evaluates the season in a wrap up meeting with the Athletic Director with the goal of planning ahead for the next season.
