S&ME is seeking an experienced coatings inspector to manage a variety of NDT/NDE and coatings projects throughout the state of North Carolina. Come join our growing team in Greensboro, North Carolina, and elevate your career in the coating world.
As a Coatings Project Manager, you will lead and mentor project managers on medium to large NDT/NDE and special inspection projects, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Lead and mentor project managers on medium to large NDT/NDE and special inspection projects, overseeing project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
- Conduct field inspections of coatings and document field activities, observations, testing results, and project conformance according to project plans and specifications.
- Use Metafield® or similar systems to record and report field data.
- Generate and review cost estimates, proposals, and project specifications for compliance with codes and client requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, handle invoicing, and manage change orders.
- Mentor staff in client development and project management while fostering local client relationships.
- Participate in local professional organizations, such as AMPP, and support business development efforts to meet financial goals.
What You Bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field
- AMPP Level III Senior Coating Inspector certification
- 10+ years of NDT/NDE or Coatings experience with at least 3 years in a project management role
- A strong working knowledge of applicable AMPP, ASNT, and AWS standards and procedures, as well as the ability to gain a working knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and IBC Special Inspections
- Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Ability to climb heights over 200 feet
- Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
