Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Coding Quality Review Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the development, evolution and implementation of the overall strategy for the Company’s centralized coding quality operations in the Shared Services Division (SSD). You will work with all HIM Service Centers (HSCs) and VRM to improve the accuracy, integrity and quality of patient data, to ensure minimal variation in coding practices and improve the quality of physician documentation within the body of the medical record to support code assignments. You will also manage, direct and coordinate the HSC’s coding quality monitoring activities. You will plan, assign and direct the centralized coding quality monitoring program; actively monitor employee performance and reward or discipline accordingly; address complaints and resolve problems; and actively oversee and manage production and quality control efforts.
In this role, you will:
- Provide direct managerial oversight to Coding Quality Reviewers, Team Leads, Specialists, and Coordinators in the management of coding data quality and education work processes, to include quality pre and post billing coding reviews and education for the HSCs and VRM
- Select, evaluate, train, and provide leadership and direction to reporting staff
- Coach and help develop team members; help resolve dysfunctional behavior and promote teamwork within functional area(s); discipline and counsel staff as necessary
- Perform productivity monitoring and provide timely and consistent feedback to employees and Assistant Director and Director Coding Quality Review Responsible for ensuring employee work schedules sufficiently meet the HSCs/VRM coding quality monitoring requirements including reviews for VRM new hires
- Prepare coding benchmarking and coding quality monitoring reports for the SSD HIM Leadership, HSC Leadership, Market/Division leadership and Group leadership
- Coordinate work assignments to achieve operational goals
- Manage HSC/VRM customer (HSC COO, Coding Director, Coding Managers) expectations and ensure service is delivered accordingly
What qualifications you will need:
- Undergraduate degree required. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ health care management/leadership experience required
- Minimum 7 years’ recent inpatient/outpatient hospital coding experience required
- Experience managing a large coding teamor coding review teamstrongly preferred
- RHIA, RHIT and/or CCS required
