Job Title: Collections Specialist
Job Description
Effectively manage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts to ensure timely collection while maintaining positive customer relationships. You will be accountable for reducing delinquency, DSO, and bad debt expense for assigned accounts and performing collection activities in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include providing timely feedback on order holds, resolving invoice discrepancies and payment disputes, reconciling customer accounts, submitting invoices through customer portals, and completing monthly reporting of past due accounts.
Responsibilities
+ Manage assigned portfolio of customer accounts to ensure timely collection while maintaining good customer relationships.
+ Reduce delinquency, DSO, and bad debt expense for assigned accounts.
+ Perform collection activities in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
+ Provide timely feedback regarding current order holds for release or additional actions required.
+ Review, follow up, and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment disputes, including short payments and unearned early payment discounts.
+ Reconcile customer accounts as necessary to aid in collection efforts.
+ Submit invoicing through customer portals as required.
+ Complete monthly reporting of past due accounts as identified by Team Management.
+ Participate in monthly review of account portfolio with Team Management.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of B2B Collections experience.
+ Experience with an ERP system (MS Dynamics AX preferred).
+ High School Diploma.
+ Proficient in Excel, comfortable with basic formulas and sorting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Work Environment
The collections team consists of 8 people, with separate smaller Cash App and Credit teams. The company is a large, global, publicly traded organization headquartered between Minneapolis and St. Paul, with an accounting team of approximately 45 people in the US. The company has been growing steadily with 15-20 acquisitions in the last few years. The position offers a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and two days working from home, with flexibility on which days to work from home except for Monday and Friday. Initial training will be fully in-office for the first 2-3 weeks. Typical working hours are 8/8:30 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to accommodate personal needs. The team is fun, and communicates well. There are opportunities for full-time roles in the future, as evidenced by past interim hires being brought on permanently.
