Our Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) division is the primary trade association for credit unions in Illinois and known as one of the nation's most proactive and effective ones. We provide advocacy, information, legislative support, educational resources, compliance support, and a vast network of additional resources to help them succeed.
The other major partner of the Illinois Credit Union System is the LSC, which helps credit unions compete through a number of products and services. By pooling resources through the System, we are able to achieve economies of scale and accomplish more than any of the credit unions and their members could alone. SUMMARY
Performs collections on behalf of credit unions within applicable laws, policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieve Certified Collectors status within 12 months of acceptance of your position and obtain re certification as required by the American Collectors Association.
- Become familiar with all operation methods as outlined in the Collection Procedures for CRS.
- Follow correspondence guidelines as established in the CRS Collection Pro Forma Book.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Collect delinquent credit union loans using good judgment in all contacts. Keep accurate records on all accounts.
- Skip-tracing. Use discretion in using outside sources for locating debtors with large balance files ($1,000 or higher).
- Repossessions and bankruptcies. Be familiar with UCC default remedies, UCC/Vehicle Code collateral disposition, title transfer procedures and bankruptcy laws as they apply to credit unions.
- Maintain proper image of the ICUL System. Be courteous and professional at all times. Refer inquiries to Manager or other departments when necessary.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as needed.
- Local area travel may be occasionally required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EDXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- One year to three years of similar or related experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
