Department Summary
The Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) is a unique residential program for high school-aged Texas students who are high achievers and interested in mathematics and science. While living on campus in McConnell Hall, students in this two-year program complete a rigorous academic curriculum of college coursework at the University of North Texas (UNT). Instruction is by university faculty. There are no high school courses taught, but students enjoy many of the activities of high school and the company of age mates who are intellectual peers.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for recruiting students and informing them of admission requirements for a residential academic program. This position will manage a geographical territory and connect prospective students with university resources. This position initiates, organizes, and participates in oncampus and offcampus events directly related to TAMS admission and recruitment efforts and programs and assists with developing recruitment plans. Involves extensive travel, driving university vehicle. Reports to Associate Director for Admissions Recruiting for TAMS.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and one year of experience in recruiting, academic advising, counseling, student services, customer service or related experience or can substitute education for experience.

• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Products.
• Ability to obtain credit card for travel.
• Good driving record and access to a vehicle.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Professional in appearance, motivated, self-directed and have the ability and willingness to communicate enthusiastically with diverse populations in a positive, courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Willingness to travel extensively.
Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to adapt/create new presentations to match various audiences.
• Familiarity with social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
• Ability to supervise student Ambassador organization that volunteers to assist in recruiting efforts.
• Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field preferred.
• Event planning experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and interact appropriately with adolescent, parent, and educator populations.

Job Duties:
- % - Recruiting academically advanced students in Texas to attend the TAMS program. Includes presenting to groups of prospective students and parents virtually and in person and identifying new opportunities and venues to promote the program. - ()
- % - In conjunction with the Assoc. Director for Admissions Recruiting, schedule and organize events for recruiting prospective students to the TAMS program (e.g., Preview Day, SpendaDay, various webinars). - ()
- % - In conjunction with the Assoc. Director for Admissions Recruiting, assist in processing and reviewing applications for students who want to attend the TAMS program. - ()
- % - Respond to inquiries from prospective students and parents sent via the dedicated TAMS email address admissionsunt.edu - ()
- % - Assist the Associate Dean of TAMS with projects related to tracking students admitted to TAMS, retention and graduation rates, and then matriculation to other institutions. Other duties as assigned. - ()
- % - Maintain a working knowledge of TAMS academic tracks and UNT academic curricula. - ()
- % - Supervise TAMS Ambassadors student group, including purchasing process for the student organization. Train new club officers each year and oversee volunteers. - ()
Work Schedule:
M-F 8-5 with variations as job demands. MUST be able to work on evenings and weekends
