The Communications Director works closely with administrative members in the Division of Social Sciences, including all Departments, Institutes, Centers and Programs, the Dean's Office, as well as with College and Social Science Development, College Communications, and UCLA Strategic Communications, to advance the Division's educational and research activities to both internal and external audiences. Under the guidance of the Dean, the incumbent works with SS Dean's staff, faculty, department and research center/institute staff, students and campus partners to raise awareness of the Division's research, teaching, events, Inclusive Excellence, and public outreach programs. The Communications Director is responsible for leveraging the strengths of the Division to advance the social sciences and our impact, to showcase Dean's initiatives, and recognition of the contributions and achievements of its students and faculty at local, national and international levels. The Communications Director will create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short-term strategic communications plans for the Division of Social Sciences in the College of Letters and Science. The Director develops and maintains working knowledge of faculty research, student scholarly activities, conferences and convenings, and department programs and events. The Director will work collaboratively with College Communications and Social Sciences Development to highlight the division's philanthropic achievements. The Director is also responsible for the management of the division's webpage, social media accounts, as well as its print, digital, and multimedia promotional assets, across all our departments and research centers. Under the general direction of the Dean Social Science and the Social Science Computing Net, Technology Director, the incumbent is expected to perform assigned responsibilities with a high degree of independent decision-making. Work is reviewed on a regular basis through established meetings with the continents above, also including College Communications, Social Science Development and Strategic Communications. Finally, the incumbent will work closely with the Dean of Social Sciences (and other College Deans and Communication Directors) to mitigate and respond to queries, crises, and last-minute developments affecting the Social Sciences at UCLA.

1. Extensive experience in developing communications strategies for large organizations, preferably in higher education or the Social Sciences. (Preferred)2.
