Position Title: Commercial Analyst
Location: Glen Rock, NJ (Hybrid-on site 3 days a week)
Role Introduction:
Applegreen USA is in a significant growth phase and is seeking to recruit a Commercial Analyst for the finance team based in Glen Rock, NJ. The role is responsible for working with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager and Director in the production and review of pivotal reports to provide insightful analysis and support, ensuring that our commercial strategies align seamlessly with the overall success of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage advanced Excel capabilities (Functions, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, VBA) to develop intricate financial models, conduct thorough data analysis, and generate ad hoc reports. Ultimately, to derive actionable insights from key performance indicators, facilitating well-informed decision-making processes
- Optimize Power BI's capabilities for deep-dive analysis of complex datasets. Uncover actionable insights through advanced data modelling and intricate DAX expressions. Elevate storytelling with visually compelling and clear visuals in interactive reports, bringing insights to life with simplicity and impact
- Analysis of financial data to understand key business performance drivers and where issues are identified supporting the resolution
- Become the recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our data structures internally and work collaboratively with the IT department to get access to the data sources required to enable you to build the required dashboards and reports to effectively drive focus and change through the business
- Collaborate in the conceptualization and execution of cutting-edge reporting and analytical tools, actively contributing to the development and implementation of innovative processes that elevate our data-driven capabilities including predictive AI-driven dashboards
- Efficiently navigate and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, showcasing problem-solving skills through proactive identification of opportunities for process improvement
- Provide strategic recommendations for change, contributing to a more streamlined and effective workflow
- Effectively articulate complex data findings in a manner that resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences, promoting a collaborative atmosphere within cross-functional teams
The Candidate
Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field or equivalent experience
- 2-4 years of experience in a commercial analyst role or similar
- Multi-unit, retail, wholesale, or quick-serve restaurant experience a big plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Advanced proficiency in data preparation tools such as Power Query or Tableau Prep
- Advanced proficiency in utilizing BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and also independently
- A ‘can do’ attitude and a positive solution focused mindset
- A highly organized individual with ability to plan and organize own workload effectively for maximum impact and who is flexible and adaptable around changing business needs
- A desire to be part of a high performing team environment, consistently challenging the status quo and driving improvements
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL – SSIS, SSMS, SSAS, SSRS is helpful
- Familiarity in programming languages for data analysis such as Python and R is helpful
