About the Job
Our team is looking for an experienced and high-performing commercial banker to join our team. You will be responsible for business development of new commercial and industrial ("C&I") lending and depository clients and effective portfolio management of all C&I clients.
The ideal candidate will be able to appropriately identify, evaluate (with the assistance of the Credit Underwriting team), and authorize/recommend approval or denial of C&I lending opportunities. This will be done by developing an appropriate level of communication with clients and internal team members to better understand and mitigate any issues the client may face.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate new C&I loan and deposit relationships for the Bank in the type and manner outlined in the Bank's Strategic Plan, including developing relationships extending beyond the initial loan/deposit request.
- Provide excellent customer service to existing clients to promote client retention and portfolio growth.
- Achieve performance goals through proactive growth and retention of quality clients with a focus on driving overall profitability to meet bank targets.
- Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
- Analyze trends in both the income statement and balance sheet, while following guidelines established by the Bank. Have a firm understanding of cash flow. Analyze various financial ratios (liquidity, activity, leverage, etc.) against industry benchmarks.
- Monitor or coordinate monitoring of existing loans through the ongoing review of updated financial statements, customer and community interfacing, and review of internal reports.
- Review and understand all loan documentation requirements, including those from third parties, such as appraisers, participants, insurance or title companies.
- Work with C&I clients to resolve delinquent accounts for collection.
- Review Problem Loan Reports (prepared by the Credit Underwriting team) as directed by policy, if necessary.
- Assist the C&I Executive Officer as needed in order to achieve department and Bank wide goals.
- Complete and pass required training courses by due date.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year institution required. Plus strong understanding of banking fundamentals, and experience with credit and financial analysis. Credit Risk Certification (CRC) designation is a plus.
- Minimum 4-10 years' experience in financial services industry, banking, loan review, and/or compliance procedures and policies.
WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT:
HOURS: Monday Friday
8am 5pm
Some variation in work hours
TRAVEL: Local travel regularly; overnight and out of town occasionally

Generally comfortable professional environment. Largely sedentary role with regular travel and moving about the building. Some interruption. Verbal and written communication skills along with telephone and computer usage are critical to the job. Must be able to read, comprehend, and communicate complex information (i.e., speaking to customers and within small groups, read credit reports and required documents, etc.).
