Commercial Casualty Claims Adjuster - The Jacobson Group

Job Description:
A property and casualty insurer is seeking a Commercial Casualty Claims Adjuster to join their growing team. This is a hybrid position and will be located in Ohio.


Responsibilities:

• Investigate, evaluate and adjust assigned claims in accordance with all company policies and procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
• Verify coverage, investigate losses by gathering all pertinent information, issue coverage determinations, evaluate claims and, where coverage and/or liability exists, sets reserves.
• Accept claims or negotiate settlements, adhering to assigned authority limits for reserving and payments.
• Exercise independent decision-making with minimal to moderate supervision and direction on assigned claims, using knowledge of applicable codes, laws, standards and regulations.
• Assign defense counsel and ensure cases are handled effectively and efficiently until final resolution through settlement or judgment.
• Investigate and identify all sources of recovery and subrogation for assigned claims.
• Attend mediations, arbitrations or trials on assigned claims.
• Work with SIU to protect the company from false or inflated claims.
• Ensure information in claim files is accurate, current and complete.
• Maintain active diaries for assigned claims files with the current plan of action.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of work experience in commercial casualty claims handling
• Associate's degree in a related field
