Work with and learn from Journeyman technicians while assisting customers and handling service calls.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect air-conditioning units to ensure efficient operation
- Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions
- Assist with installing, replace, or repairing damaged equipment; calibrate thermostatic controls
- Assist with installing new heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems; repair and replace damaged or worn heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning parts and equipment; repair or replace low- and high-pressure liquid lines
- Inspect and observe pressure of liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of the unit and make necessary adjustments; inspect and service refrigeration equipment including refrigerators, ice machines, gas packs, and heat pumps
- Assist with and maintain the chilled and hot water supply systems
- Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; clean coils, blowers, check motors, and belt tensions
- Assist with assembly and install metal ductwork (where applicable).
- Assist in planning and designing of new installations of heating and air-conditioning systems
- Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required
- Recognize and identify potential risks and hazards associated with performing all work-related duties safely
- Work to mitigate potential risks associated with essential duties
- Collaborate with management personnel to maintain safe working environments
- Participate in a comprehensive OSHA-approved safety course (preferably an OSHA 10- or 30-hour course) and adhere to company and regulatory compliance programs
- Obtain or carry current low-voltage electrical card
- Obtain or carry an EPA refrigerant license
- Wear appropriate company-issued uniform as well as PPE where required to work safely.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to enter the Union and or currently enrolled
- Posses a valid and current Driver's License that meets the insurance requirements of the company
- Push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 10/30 Certified
- Principles and practices of Heating, Venting, Air Conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and repair; hazard and safety practices common to the trade
- HVAC controls and safety devices; appropriate Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) / chemical usages; tools of the trade; materials and refrigerant recovery equipment and procedures used in installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems
- Computerized electrical circuits and systems as they relate to air-conditioning, heating, ventilating, and refrigerated cooling
- Knowledge of sheet metal, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
- Basic understanding of building automation controls
