Our New York and Chicago locations are looking for a talented and experienced Commercial Manager to join our global operations team. Experience as a Commercial Manager or Project Control Specialist in-house at a construction, engineering, architecture, or consulting services company where a wide variety of contract terms can be at issue is essential. This role is focused on supporting Project Managers and Project Accountants with managing the commercial terms of our contracts as well as the cash cycle for a defined portfolio of projects for multiple clients and brands in the specific location.
Responsibilities:- Responsible for addressing all project commercial and contractual issues and ensuring at all times the company's commercial and contractual position is protected and maximized.
- Responsible for ensuring the Project is commercially managed in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
- Work directly with Project Managers to develop appropriate project set-up, implementation, and management of Project financial tracking and control systems, using Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Support operational leaders and Project Managers in an assigned segment of the business.
- Review of and recommendations to manage contract specific requirements regarding staffing expectations by project for titles/rate caps to optimize project profitability.
- Review of and recommendations to manage contract specific requirements regarding payment terms, invoicing cycle, and invoicing requirements to reduce DSO, short-pays, and inaccurate/incomplete invoicing.
- Foster billing and collections process set up at the project inception, including client’s requirements and procedures and ensuring proper level of responsibility for team members are assigned and action items or flow process defined before project starts.
- Work with Operations and Accounting groups and clients to track invoice progression, and assist in working towards reducing overall AR and WIP DSO.
- Recommend updates to project dashboards to increase visibility of project commercial performance to Project and Sector Managers.
- Support project teams with project financial reporting, development of Cost to Complete (CTC’s) estimates, billing rate updates/escalation processes, and invoicing and collections.
- Assist in contract administration, changes, subcontracts administration, changes order development as related to the commercial terms and cash cycle.
- Prepare and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations as needed.
- Meet regularly with appropriate project personnel to discuss support needs; and be deeply familiar with key client’s processes for billings approval and collections.
- Assist with compilation of CTC’s and project Estimates-to-Complete (EAC’s) on a monthly basis.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of similar or related work experience required.
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills required, including verbal, written, and listening.
- Requires demonstrated ability to effectively interface with office and corporate staff, peers and superiors and coordinate externally with client staff and management, subconsultants, project team and other stakeholders.

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $143,900 - $215,900 annually for this position and local market.
