Job Summary
This position is responsible for preparing and painting trailers and associated equipment. To succeed in this role, one should have a sound understanding of the task, as well as strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and customer service skills, demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a team member.
Job Responsibility
- The ability to work as a team
- Follow orders and complete tasks as assigned by Supervisor
- Cleaning and maintaining all equipment and booths
- Ability to operate machinery and equipment to prime trailers
- Make paint rework repairs as needed
- Employee must be able to work in a respiratory perform other duties as assigned
- Prep all orders in the truck department for paint.
- Assist painters in painting, masking, taping, or any other task to be performed in the paint department.
- Help prep and perform basic repairs when needed.
- Perform quality assurance before and after painting.
- Other duties assigned by management (may be assigned at any time).
- Know and follow all health and safety rules, such as safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
Skills and Requirements
- Three years of Experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledgeable in the operation of all equipment required for surface preparation, primer, and topcoat application.
- Experience sanding and prepping vehicles for paint
- Experience taping and prepping vehicles for paint
- Experience using primer gun
- Experience using respirator system
- Experience spraying single-stage paint
- Experience spraying multi-stage paint (base & clear coat)
- Experience with fixing body damage (Bondo, fiberglass)
- Able to pass drug test/medical physical exam.
- Able to pass 10-year background check.
Physical Demands/Abilities performed throughout the duration of the work shift.
- Heavy Work- Exerting up to 100lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 50lbs of force frequently or up to 20lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including other job related items.
- Walking/Standing for sustained periods of time.
- Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using entire body
- Stooping/Crouching – Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, legs, and spine.
- Balancing – Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling.
- Kneeling/Crawling – Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee(s) or moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Whole Hand/Fingers – Picking, pinching, typing with fingers and grasping with the fingers and palm.
- Repetitive Motion – Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Talking – Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to others accurately and quickly when necessary.
- Hearing – Receiving detailed information through oral communication at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Vision – Close visual acuity to perform activities such as reading, using measurement devices, viewing electronic devices, assembling, inspecting small parts and/or operating machines and power tools, operate a motor vehicle and determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work performed.
Work Environment: Work is performed in a shop; both indoors and outdoors. Activities occur inside and outside and are subject to work environments that are not climate controlled, weather, and hot/cold temperature changes, dirt, dust, soot and possibly mold, loud noise, and ladders to use for high heights. Potential hazards such as moving vehicles, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, high heat, and exposure to chemicals, atmospheric conditions (e.g. fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases), or poor ventilation, or a workspace may be exposed to smoke residue, mold and mildew, contaminated water, or other unsanitary conditions as well as being in closed quarters/confined spaces (e.g. crawl spaces, small, enclosed rooms, attics, etc.)
