Location: South Bay Area – preferable applicants should be living in south of Richmond to cover the surrounding areas
We are offering company work vehicles and gas card and $75 monthly phone reimbursement and over time is available for most areas.
UPDATE: I don’t mind training new hires who have the right foundation and ability/willingness to learn; so can we focus on candidates for an entry level with computer or communication cable experience or low/high voltage experience

SUMMARY OF ROLE:
SunPower is seeking a Commissioning Technician to perform scheduled and unscheduled fieldwork required to set up production monitoring for numerous PV systems in the region.
Fieldwork includes commissioning new and existing systems, and system testing.
The commissioning Technician may also be assigned the responsibility for observing the quality and safety of a contractor performing PV System Technician troubleshooting and commissioning type work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Commission residential PV systems quickly and efficiently
2. On site diagnosis of system operation
3. Identify, coordinate, and observe work completed by sub-contractors
4. Document time and workflow with schedulers and supervisor in real time
5. Complete assigned training and qualification requirements within a specified time frame, including meeting or exceeding minimum test score requirements
6. Prepare reports and communicate to customers the results of commissioning activities
7. Perform other duties assigned including procedure development and revision
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1-2 Years of Experience
1. Practical knowledge of electrical systems, solar electric systems and their components.
2. Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
3. Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.
4. Strong prioritization skills.
5. Driver’s license.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. High school graduate or GED.
2. Practical experience with electrical wiring and basic construction practices required.
3. Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
4. Ability to demonstrate a responsive, customer service approach to listening and responding to requests.
5. Ability to communicate status of work activities and issues with peers and management as they relate to projects and tasks.
6. Proficient with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
7. OSHA 10 and CPR qualification preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
1. Provide information/analysis to customers and internal stakeholders.
2. Create written reports/memos/emails to communicate findings internally and externally.
3. Communicate with customers, project managers and engineers.
4. Communicate with vendors and contractors.
5. Communicate with Quality/Product Development/Purchasing departments.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
1. Ability to analyze operating data and identify anomalies.
2. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, lengths, and electrical values.
REASONING ABILITY & DECISION MAKING SKILLS
1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, architectural or electrical drawing, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Be able to inspect and work maintenance activities in outdoor construction type areas without handicap access.
2. Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands to dexterously maneuver small parts in confined spaces, such as wires, screws, and various components within electrical equipment.
3. Regularly required to kneel, crawl, climb step- ladders and stairs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Some of the work will be performed in an office environment; however, the environment for field inspections exposes the employee to the risk of electric shock, heights, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
Additionally, while working outdoors, the employee is exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, and ultraviolet radiation from the sun.
The noise levels may require hearing protection.
