SPA’s Sea Land Air (SLA) Division supports a diverse portfolio of national security government clients, including the Undersea Enterprise, the Navy Surface Community, the Navy MPTE Enterprise, the Air Force, Army, DoD Agencies, DARPA, international clients including the Canadian Navy and Australian Defense Force. Our primary objective is to provide timely, objective and analytic assessments that integrate the policy, operational, technical, programmatic and acquisition aspects of our clients’ challenges. Leveraging both in-domain and cross-domain expertise to maximize our clients’ success, SLA Division acts as trusted agents to senior decision-makers and key leaders and excels at providing data driven analytic insights, systems engineering, strategies and plans that address current and emerging challenges to national security. 

The Naval Surface Warfare Group supports the Surface community and components of the United States Navy by providing program management, requirements management, force development, and readiness support in Washington DC and the Fleet concentration areas. We provide timely, objective, analytic assessments, strategic planning, and expert operational, technical, and acquisition support to the Maritime communities, and related agencies, allies, and partners. We are trusted agents of the senior and operational leadership in the Fleet, OPNAV, NAVSEA, and the Royal Canadian and Royal Australian Navies. We play key roles in providing insights and strategies to address current and emerging challenges to national security and have tremendous impact on our client’s success in solving their most important issues.

SPA has a near term need for a Communications Specialist to support The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren (NSWCDD) in Dahlgen, VA. #MC

The ideal candidate will be able to conduct research and interviews, write and edit articles, news releases, and statements for initiatives such as the Surface Navy Association Symposium and distinguished visitor visits; Manage social media platforms and use analytics tools like Hootsuite to enhance NSWCDD's online presence; Support employee communication, media relations, and community relations programs, contributing to NSWCDD's public affairs and engagement strategies; Provide photography and multimedia support for a variety of communication needs, including exhibit planning and coordination

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, or Marketing
• 2 years of related experience, or 6 years of other experience in the field of public relations, public affairs, legislative engagement, or journalism-related with experience in research, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and obtaining release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements, including electronic, web-based, and hard copy material
• Experience in social media management and analytics tools
• The ability to travel ~10% to conferences, program reviews, industry meetings, or other collaborative events
• US Citizenship, with the ability to obtain a DoD Temporary Secret Clearance by April 2025

Desired Qualifications: 

• Experience with Hootsuite or other social media anlaytic programs
• Experience in coordinating special events
• Experience with media relations programs and community relations
