Job Summary

This Communications Specialist position will support our team with Written and Visual Communication Services for the Information Technology Division (ITD). Written communication services shall include the development and implementation of outreach/communication activities; the developing and compiling of results/feedback from surveys, focus groups, and other engagements; creating, editing, tracking, publishing, and standardizing organizational documents to include policies, procedures, and other authoritative documents such as memorandums; and maintaining documents in print and electronic media. Also, developing and maintaining multimedia communication platforms ensuring information and visual designs are in compliance with Web Standards and Style Guide in addition to adhering to Section 508.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Format and edit interagency broadcast messages as requested, must be delivered within 24 hours of receipt in the format requested.
- Create and review templates for documents to ensure they are standardized across all ITD within the timeline requested, in the format requested.
- Develop and consolidate information on emerging technologies and procedures into Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or written documents within the timeline identified when tasked in the Microsoft Office format requested.
- Build and edit slide presentations for ITD as requested within the timeline identified when tasked.
- Builds and edits documents for ITD as requested within the timeline identified when tasked.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Qualifications and Required Skills
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Preferred: Government or Federal Agency experience.
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with design software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign) and content management systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of copywriting and editing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to multi-task and manage time effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail are needed.
- Proven experience in web design and content production.
- Experience in copywriting and editing.
- Solid understanding of project management principles.
- Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software.
- Presentation skills.
- Developing and implementing effective communication strategies.
- Managing internal communications (memos, newsletters etc.) and external communications.
- Coordinating with media representatives and stakeholders.
- Writing and editing speeches, articles, PR releases, and other marketing material.
- Overseeing the production of promotional videos, advertisements, and social media content.
- Monitoring the organization’s brand on social media.
- Measuring and analyzing the impact of communications and marketing campaigns.
- Providing communications training to staff as needed.
- Managing crises and emergency communications.
- Organizing and managing events that promote brand recognition and reputation.
- Proven ability to write thoughtful, compliant, and compelling content.
- Work well in a team environment and able to work independently.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen residing in the United States.
- Must be able to pass a Federal Background Investigation.

Posted Pay Range
The projected compensation range for this position is: $65,000 - $75,000 (annual USD). In addition, this position is eligible for growth team discretionary bonuses.The posted compensation range reflects the expected pay range at time of hire, however base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for this position, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, certifications, market location, and job-related competencies. Employees hired will be in an "at will position."
