Position Summary:
The Communications Manager for Grower-Owner Relations is a new role focused on creating and managing Welch's communications with corporate leaders, the board, and grower-owners. This position involves working closely with senior leadership to support clear, effective communication across the cooperative. We're looking for someone with strong experience in corporate and external communications, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement.
Where You'll Work:
This role is based in our Concord, MA headquarters until we move to Waltham, MA in June of 2025.
What You'll Do:
Board Communication and Support
- Work with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to create and deliver communications and materials that help the board make decisions.
- Collaborate with board members and elected officials to prepare meeting summaries, reports, and key messages, ensuring clear, consistent information.
- Lead communications for board initiatives like succession planning and governance training to help build a strong, informed board.
Grower-Owner Communications and Engagement
- Design and lead a multi-channel communication plan to keep grower-owners informed about business updates, resources, and cooperative benefits.
- Coordinate communication strategies that address grower-owner needs and ensure timely information sharing.
- Manage the creation of grower-owner materials like newsletters, bulletins, and online resources.
- Develop a dedicated website for grower-owners, providing easy access to resources, news, and cooperative information.
- Plan and manage communications for grower-owner roadshows to ensure productive, well-organized meetings.
Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management
- Serve as a main contact for communication across Welch's corporate, board, and grower-owner groups, ensuring messages are aligned.
- Gather feedback from grower-owners, board members, and corporate teams to continuously improve communication.
- Work with marketing and public relations to keep all messaging consistent and aligned with Welch's brand.
Who You Are:
- Strategic Communication: Skilled in designing communication plans that align with Welch's goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Experienced in building strong relationships and trust with corporate, board, and grower-owner groups.
- Organizational Understanding: Familiar with cooperative structures and governance.
- Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail for accuracy and consistency.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive, resourceful, and innovative in addressing challenges.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, or stakeholder relations; experience with cooperatives is a plus.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills for explaining complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects, stakeholders, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with digital and traditional communication tools like content management systems and social media platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience building partnerships across teams.
