The mission of the Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) is to advance knowledge about access, delivery, outcomes, and cost of health care to improve population health and promote health equity. The HPM Department is ranked 8 th among the HPM departments nationally by US News and World Report and is a leader in innovative research and educational programs to train the next generation of scholars and professionals in health policy, health services research, and health care management. The HPM Department comprises 18 primary faculty members and over 25 adjunct faculty members affiliated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Carter Center, the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the Georgia Department of Public Health, and other leading health care organizations. HPM departmental faculty has nearly $30 million in extramural research funding from federal and nonfederal sources. The Department also has robust training programs that include more than 130 Master of Public Health students with concentrations in Policy and Management, ten Master of Science in Public Health students, and eleven Doctor of Philosophy students. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: + Responsible for the integrated communication and promotion of divisional programs and services. + Collaborates with others to develop and implement programs and communications materials for targeted audiences which enhance awareness and utilization of divisional programs and services. + Creates effective promotional materials including articles, brochures, forms and flyers. + Designs, oversees and updates a website to educate and to promote activities and programs; coordinates website with other related websites. + May manage a budget. + May assist in evaluating, measuring and responding to issues related to the quality of services provided. + May conduct evaluations, surveys and focus groups to assist in quality improvement efforts. + Researches constituents' satisfaction with divisional programs and services. + Develops reports and recommendations to sustain high quality. + May supervise or provide direction to staff. + Leads projects as assigned. + Serves as an internal marketing consultant for programs and services. + May be responsible for managing various aspects of social media activities. + Performs related responsibilities as required. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: + Creates effective communication materials including articles, PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, and social media posts. + Updates the department website to educate and to promote activities and programs. + Serves as an internal communications consultant for the department. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, art or other related field. + Five years of experience in the development of marketing and informational materials, writing/research, project management and/or information technology. + Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. + Knowledge of publishing and other related software. + Demonstrated creativity in the design of marketing, public relations or educational programs and communications materials. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Five years of experience inmarketing, public relations, journalism, writing, or a related field. + Knowledge of SEO best practices, AP style, and familiarity writing for the web. + Strong news judgement and a background in health or science communication preferred. + Demonstrated experience creating written materials and editing the work of others. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
