Job Description
Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Communications Specialist to join our team, supporting a large program at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive communication strategies to support the organization's objectives. This role involves creating executive-level communication products, coordinating with subject matter experts (SMEs), managing communication processes, and ensuring consistency with the organization's branding and style guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic communications plans in alignment with program goals and objectives.
- Create, edit, and disseminate high-quality internal and external communications materials such as press releases, newsletters, presentations, talking points, and reports.
- Serve as a liaison between the program team and key stakeholders, including government representatives, to facilitate effective communication.
- Provide communications support for events, trainings, and meetings, including coordination of logistics and materials.
- Conduct media relations activities, including crafting press releases, managing inquiries, and arranging interviews.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and recommend improvements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior communications staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in management analysis or related fields with a Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- Experience working in federal contracting, particularly with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Strong knowledge of communications tools and platforms, including social media management.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Eligibility:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.
Compensation:
Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.
Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000.
