Description:
The Community Access Coordinator ensures access to the Museum for all school and community groups and is centered on building relationships and providing exemplary guest service. This position is responsible for the overall systems that service all school and public program offerings including reservations, sales, communications and the coordination of day-of responsibilities for group visits at the Museum and in the community. The Community Access Coordinator reports directly to the Community Programs Manager.
Job Specifications: Full-time, Tuesday-Saturday, (Bilingual English/Spanish required) with additional hours as needed to meet business needs for occasional weekends, evenings, holidays, and events.
Rate: $22.40 - $24.76/hour
Job Duties:
- Use Altru by Blackbaud as the primary tool for booking, scheduling, transactions, internal reservations, data entry and reporting for school and community group visits, facilitated programs and workshops at the Museum.
- Oversee Museum Access Programs and events including Low-sensory Evenings, Family Access Days and other Museum access initiatives.
- Oversee the Sponsored Admissions and Memberships Program by scheduling, tracking and reporting in Altru and maintain accuracy in the cross-departmental tracking system shared with the Development and Finance Departments.
- Collaborate with Program Coordinators and Early Childhood Programs Manager responsible for programming in The Art Studio, The Teaching Kitchen, Outdoor Experience, Book Nook and Bloom.
- Oversee consumables of The Nest and other guest-facing Museum accessibility resources.
- Support the STEAM Educators in the daily operations of incoming community group visits.
- Be a proactive and welcoming resource for points-of-contact including other community institutions and schools.
- Teach and co-teach programs as assigned in support of community and school program goals.
- Maintain community engagement partnerships to promote accessibility as it aligns with the mission of the Museum.
- Cross-team and cross-departmental collaboration for different access-focused projects, initiatives and programs.
- Member of Museum Reservations Team, responsible for maintaining smooth operations of daily and special events in the Museum
- Train and serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) and assume MOD responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field. Related training, certification and lived experience also considered.
- Experience in customer service and ability to respond with professionalism and competence as a representative of the Museum.
- Fluency with computer software, scheduling and database programs including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office. Previous experience with Altru by Blackbaud is a plus.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, access and inclusion and to the Museum's mission, vision and values.
- Experience working with neurodivergent audiences and individuals with disabilities.
- Experience building relationships with community members including teachers, schools, childcare centers, libraries and other community based cultural institutions.
- Demonstrate engaging, dynamic presentation and teaching skills and classroom management techniques with diverse audiences of varying ages and sizes.
- Flexible and energetic with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Fluent English and Spanish proficiency, including writing and public speaking skills.
- Abide by all Museum policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate attire and uniform when on duty.
- Valid driver's license is required and ability to drive to and from off-site activities.
- Physical Requirements:
- Load, unload and set up materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours).
- Use office equipment and computers.
- Other physical requirements of the position may include but are not limited to moving, traversing, positioning self to bend, stoop, crouch, remain in a stationary position on the floor, and/or reaching.
Work Environment:
This position operates in both an indoor and outdoor environment where variable temperatures, light levels, crowds are moderate to very noisy sound levels are common. The employee is required to interact and communicate with adults and children frequently, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, as well as common cleaning supplies.
