Job Description Summary

The Community Engagement Clinical Research Coordinator (CECRC) will assist with the overall community engagement strategy for the Deeply Rooted Collaborative within the Urban Health Lab (UHL) at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Justice (CHJ). The vision of CHJ is to achieve health through racial, economic, and environmental justice for Black, Brown, and other people and neighborhoods harmed by structural inequities. The Center sits within the Center for Health Care Transformation and Innovation (CHTI) and has three portfolios of work – 1) transformation of health systems operations (Health Justice Transformation), 2) rigorous research, and community action. Deeply Rooted is a community action initiative which centers community partnership and leverages the healing power of nature to improve health in Philadelphia neighborhoods. The CECRC will: 1) Serve as a connection point for residents within the Deeply Rooted Collaborative network. This will include resident engagement through programming and educational materials that provide information about the health benefits of nature, encourage tree plantings, and visiting local parks and green spaces. The role will have a specific focus on engaging residents to create a network of mini-parks in West and Southwest Philadelphia. In addition, the role will work to increase youth engagement within the network area. 2) Assist with creating and maintaining a database of qualitative data of Deeply Rooted activities. 3) Assist with efforts to increase volunteer engagement with Deeply Rooted. 4) Help design and disseminate outreach materials to the community in general. 5) Attend community meetings, forums, and other community related events. 6) The CECRC will be required to attend weekly project and CHJ/UHL team meetings.

Qualifications



+ Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
